Major: Reflective Statement.

Looking back over the Past 3 years I can honestly say I’ve learned so much in the time I’ve spent with the course. It has been a very challenging 3 years, especially with lock down interrupting our 2nd year, but have found overall to pushed me to adapt to new working conditions to produce work that I am happy with. Before becoming a student of CAA, the concept of being able to model something digitally was elusive to me as it was something I'd never done before this course; but was looking forward to trying something new and different. Through the multiple projects completed I feel I now have a firm grasp on the 3D Pipeline and will be looking to further expand on this knowledge in other projects that come after this course. For me Major started with the concept created in Premise and has since developed throughout the Minor and Major projects. From an environment project, to evolving to an environment /character project with the addition of the Salvenger Unit Drones to hel

Main Street: Pt3 - Texturing Key Props and Shop Fronts.

Image
To texture my shop fronts I looked to use a mixture of Photoshop and Substance Painter. Here a lot of the graphics seen were made in photoshop and were then imported into substance to use on the main street models.  Here I also got the chance to briefly use Substance Sampler to create base materials to use on my models, one of the main ones being a the brick wall used on the Main St buildings. and the other being a stone debris material to use later on the rubble pile assets. Used After Effects to create eye blink image sequence and then brought the image sequences into Maya by plugging in the sequences to the texture nodes. One sequence for colour and one for emission. Main Street: Pt2 - Modeling Extra Assets & Foliage Pack.

Moving forward I begun to create the Broken home structure for the building at the end of Main Street. For this I looked to create jagged edges to imply the break in the face of the building I also repeated this for the visible 2nd floor in the broken home adding in bits of rebar and broken concrete. Here I also intend to add in piles of rubble once every thing is textured to help show decay and damage to the building. While in the track of creating rubble I created a few models to help bulk out some of the rubbish I intend to have laying around the scene. Extra Assets: Extra Assets for Main Street. by Jasmine Masters Here I also started to pull together a foliage pack to then be used to the dress the scene and some of the props to help show that natural plant life is starting to reclaim the land. Mainly focusing on flowers, bush plants and leaves to help bulk out the scene. Foliage Pack: Plants for Main Street by Jasmine Masters

Main Street: Pt1 - Remodel and UV Layout:

Over the past couple of weeks I've looked to rebuild my main street environment through modelling the key props/assets within the scene as well as laying out the UVs for each building and prop. So far I have modelled the four key shop fronts and two miscellaneous buildings. Alongside with key major props such as the broken down truck, the flower shop flower cart and any extra detailing prop add-on's to the buildings (Lights, Window Baskets, Roof Tiles etc). Texturing Drone 2.

Image
Continuing on with texturing the Drones, I managed to round off texturing Drone 2 much more quickly than Drone 1. For this Drone I wanted to still have that weathered and worn feel, but have Drone 2  appear newer/fresher than Drone 1. To do this I looked to use a slightly darker metal in tone and looked to strip back a lot of the dirt a moss elements seen in Drone 1 and instead replace it more with a light dusting of dirt and grit as well as adding the odd bit of moss/grass staining here and there; this particularly aimed more towards the fingers of the drone to help further suggest that the drone is picking up and moving things about.
