Using sketches from Life Drawing with a Model #10 and Animating them.

Image
Using sketches from Life Drawing with a Model #10 (sequence 2) I looked at taking a sequence of poses drawn in one minute and looked at transforming it into an animated clip and adding in the transitions from one pose to the next. In the first clip below I used the frame rate of 24 frames per second (fps) and found the sequence to be running too fast to see what the person is doing, so I slowed the frame rate down to 8fps so that it was clearer as to what the model was doing.

1. 5 Minute Sketches. 2. 20 Minute Sketches - RIGHT - Draw Through Method. - LEFT - Focus on Hands and Feet. Draw Through Method is where you draw using one fluid line in a single motion instead of using a feathered line to form the shape of the subject being drawn; this technique is typically used in digital drawing to get clean refined line work. 3. 10 Minute Sketches - Focus on Shadow, Tone and Highlights. 4. Using Shadow, Tone, Highlights and Line.

From Script to Screen - Reflective Statement.

For this project I found planning out my time effectively could have been better manged, as when I first got my 3 prompts I was a bit stumped for ideas and where to go from there with the story's key elements provided. With further research into my 3 prompts I found that I could set my story around the 1930s to the 1950s time period, which would allow me to mediate between old fashioned circus culture and more modern day technologies.  With this project I also found it hard get an interesting plot line for the viewer to follow as I needed to find that 'cause and affect' within my first few story concepts, but still keep the light and comic attitude I was aiming for within my pre-vis. With the outcome I have produced I feel that I have embodied at least some of these aspects into the 2 minute clip.  Since this was the first major bit of animation I have done with Maya, I found I stuck quiet closely to my storyboard with some slight difference's. With parts of th

The Not so Great Fruit Heist. - Premise /Logline /Step Outline and Treatment.

The Not so Great Fruit Heist. The Premise: A heist of a show Monkeys plot to get past the Ringmaster and to his goal that is just out of reach beyond wide open doors.  The Logline: A Ringmaster and his show Monkey are at odds when the Monkey escapes his cage and creates a distraction for the Ringmaster to handle. All the while the Monkey is eyeing up the tantalising fruit bowl within the confines of the Airport Lounge. The Step Outline: Act 1: > Scene fades in from back to The Circus arriving at airport with cargo and livestock. > Ringmaster recalls how he ended up as a ringmaster and smiles. (Job found through a flyer at the store he used to manage). > Circus and livestock split up. > Livestock and cargo go to hanger, Ringmaster goes with cargo, while the Circus folk head to the Airport Lounge. > Ringmaster checks cages and their locks; notices that the Monkeys sliding lock is coming undone, so reblots it - Monkey watches intent

Animatic TEST. - The not so Great Fruit Heist.

Using my rough hand drawn storyboards; I looked at creating a basic animatic that I will then develop and refine further to get more of a coherant flow in story and use of camera shots/ angles.

Set Design - Initial Sketches #1.

Here I looked at different set designs for which the airport lounge is based. For this I looked at adding in an aircraft hanger for the cargo and live cargo the circus brings with them. With this I found the connecting hanger to the lounge to be the most effectve as I was looking to set the time period around the 1930s - 1950s where the concept of flying was still quite new, meaning airports at the time were very basic in terms of layout ans sturcture.
