Main Street: Pt3 - Texturing Key Props and Shop Fronts.

Image
To texture my shop fronts I looked to use a mixture of Photoshop and Substance Painter. Here a lot of the graphics seen were made in photoshop and were then imported into substance to use on the main street models.  Here I also got the chance to briefly use Substance Sampler to create base materials to use on my models, one of the main ones being a the brick wall used on the Main St buildings. and the other being a stone debris material to use later on the rubble pile assets. Main Street: Pt2 - Modeling Extra Assets & Foliage Pack.

Moving forward I begun to create the Broken home structure for the building at the end of Main Street. For this I looked to create jagged edges to imply the break in the face of the building I also repeated this for the visible 2nd floor in the broken home adding in bits of rebar and broken concrete. Here I also intend to add in piles of rubble once every thing is textured to help show decay and damage to the building. While in the track of creating rubble I created a few models to help bulk out some of the rubbish I intend to have laying around the scene. Extra Assets: Extra Assets for Main Street. by Jasmine Masters Here I also started to pull together a foliage pack to then be used to the dress the scene and some of the props to help show that natural plant life is starting to reclaim the land. Mainly focusing on flowers, bush plants and leaves to help bulk out the scene. Foliage Pack: Plants for Main Street by Jasmine Masters

Main Street: Pt1 - Remodel and UV Layout:

Over the past couple of weeks I've looked to rebuild my main street environment through modelling the key props/assets within the scene as well as laying out the UVs for each building and prop. So far I have modelled the four key shop fronts and two miscellaneous buildings. Alongside with key major props such as the broken down truck, the flower shop flower cart and any extra detailing prop add-on's to the buildings (Lights, Window Baskets, Roof Tiles etc). 3D Modelling Tests: Pt1.

Thinking about how I'm going to construct my sets, I looked to see how I could make certain components that go into my scenes. The main one being the spiral staircase in the lab tower and the second being smaller details on the lab deck with crumpled piece of paper. I also intend to look further into creating foliage and organic matter within my scenes, this either through modelling or texturing. Modelling Tests. by Jasmine Masters

Modelling Drone 2: Pt3.

Moving forward with Drone 2, I looked to round off the modelling stage by adding in the top arm wire to the shoulder plate and then mirroring the arm across. Alongside this I also looked to finish laying out the arm UVs ready for texturing later on. Modelling Drone 2 :Pt 3. by Jasmine Masters

Modelling Drone 2: Pt2.

Continuing on from Minor, I looked to finish modelling Drone 2's arm by setting the arm into the side of the drone with a 'socket' and side panel to fill in the corner vent panel. Here I also laid out the UVs for the arm, new side panel and arm socket ring. I did find I had some problems with the wire that is to be placed on top of the arm that then connects to the drones main frame, I found that when the arm rotates so will the wire; which isn't practical for the effect I'm going for. So will need to look into this further. Modelling Drone 2: Pt 2. by Jasmine Masters

Modelling Drone 2 Arms: Pt1.

Image
Here I started the process of modifying Drone 1 to get Drone 2. With this I removed the front flap on the face of the drone and begun modelling the arm for the new drone. For this I tried to keep it all one mesh as much as possible to hopefully help reduce the amount of add-on connections I would have to make while rigging and skinning later on. Modelling Drone 1: Pt3.

Continuing on with modelling Drone 1; I looked to adding on the water tank, details to the front and top of the drone, as well as creating the number plate to the back to identify the drone. Here I also finished laying out the UVs for each component ready for texturing later on. Modelling Drone 1 Pt 3. by Jasmine Masters

Modelling Drone 1: Pt2.

Continuing on with modelling Drone 1;  I looked at adding on the antenna base, Propeller casing, adjusting the base of the drone at the back and also looked at mirroring the current components and laying out some of the UV's. OGR Check-in for the Minor Project - Progress so far. Animatic V1: Rough Camera Cut Animatic - No sound/effects. Animatic V2: Rough Camera Cut Animatic - No sound/effects.  Added in static shots in initial rough camera cut animatic. Animatic V3: When We're Gone Animatic with sound/effects. Ambient Sound has been added as well as some static effects to Pre-Vis, just need to source the voice overs needed to round off animatic. Minor OGR #3 by Jasmine Masters

Minor Pre-Vis Sets.

Moving forward with the new set plans I began to remodel/adjust my existing sets to work with the new set flow previously put in place from reviewing my Premise animatic (see  Reviewing 3D Pre-Vis from Premise for more). With these temporary sets now in place I can begin to roughly plan out my new camera shots when 'filming' my scenes for the new adapted Pre-Vis. Minor Pre-Vis Sets. by Jasmine Masters

Premise: Update - Modelling Rough Sets and Assets for Pre-Vis.

Over the past couple of weeks, I've begun modelling in Maya the needed sets and assets to build up the main scenes as shown in my animatic. Using the drawn animatic designs as reference for what is needed in each set I begun constructing each environment Premise: Rough Mock Up Sets... by Jasmine Masters With these rough 3D sets it will enable me to get clearer idea of camera direction within my scenes for the 3D animatic, as in the 2D animatic in some places the camera movement isn't very clear.

Sessions with James #1 - Posing with the Ultimate Bony Rig.

Image
This week for our session with James, we looked at adding a timecode to a piece of reference footage and marking out where the key poses are in premiere as well as looking at stepped animation and key framing poses in Maya. For each pose we had 10 minuets to pose the Ultimate Bony Rig to match that of the reference image we were provided with. Here the main focus was on creating the flow curves of the action being carried out (some being S and C motion curves). We did not manage to do all the of the poses; so, as extra after the session came to a close we were asked to do two of the remaining poses from the reference images. These being the tennis player and the other pose we didn't do of the two men fighting. Session #1 - Posing with th... by Jasmine Masters
