Drawing Session.

For this exercise I watched a documentary on the history of film posters and how the style of them have changed over the last century. From the classic drawn graphic film posters from the early 1900's to the more detailed and hyper-realistic posters created from the 1940's to around the 1990's.
Film posters have changed throughout time; from showing what the film is about to focusing solely on showing who's in the cinematic to draw audiences in. In addition to this film posters also transitioned from being hand crafted and painted to photographs being edited together which often led the film posters to lose that charismatic character that most poster prior to the 1990's held.

I was then given the task of creating thumbnail film poster sketches from genre splicing different films together. For example taking a horror and turning it into a comedy or a romance and trying to covey this through the dynamics of the design.
