Renewed Set Concepts.

After reviewing my Premise work, I found my concept drawings lacking. So to help start off the Minor Project I began by rounding of the set concepts to help show a general idea of the type of scenes/sets I plan to use in the final shots when filming. 

Here I started off by finishing the Lab Deck Desk concept by filling in the colour to help round off that concept.

Coloured Lab Desk 2 - Light changed to have slight light rays casting onto the desk.


From there I then moved onto drawing out the rest of my concepts to help give me those working visuals to then refer back to when in Maya. This consisted of Harret Sets Main St, the Lab Deck's Shattered window and finally the Generator Hallway.

Film Lecture Series #3 - Structural Theories & Storytelling + Film Review.

For todays lecture we looked at structural theories within films. This came looking at the 3 act structure - linear narrative structure - proposed by Syd Field who modernized and wrote about Aristotle's initial theory of narrative structure who stated that  “A whole is what has a beginning and middle and end” Poetics 335BC. Field  also stated that the 3 act structure   doesn't   necessarily  need to follow Aristotle's  proposed time  schedule and that the middle act (act 2) is usually twice as long as act 1 and 3. King Kong (1933) - Film Review.

Figure 1: Kong Film Poster. The creative force that is King Kong (1933) was directed and produced by Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack and written by the visionary minds of James Ashmore Creelman and Ruth Rose.   Devised from the ideology of beauty and the beast, it shows Kong to lose sense of the world around him in order to ‘protect’ Ann (Fay Wray), who throughout the film since after meeting Kong is clearly distressed and anxious of Kong’s possessive tendencies. Forming a whirlwind of cinematography as it “plunders every trick in the book to create its illusions” (Ebert, 2002) for the audiences at the time of its release date. ( Figure 1 ).
