Character Design Session #2.

Today we looked at World Building and Body Language.

Within this we looked at logical World Building and how the world is designed with the types of characters in mind and how the atmosphere can connote these ideas and add further emphasis within a concept/animation.

Task 1 - exaggerating features of the Chrysler building, NY.

Task 2 - look at interiors based on the prompt provided - Roman Gladiator/scientific/clinical.

We then moved onto Body Language and how that plays a big part in character structure and how they move/ come across to viewers. For this we focused on the line of action within a character and where the weight would be placed.

Task 3 - using prompts to center the pose on.

Task 3i - using prompts to center the pose on.

Task 3ii - using prompts to center the pose on.

We then transitions this back to the earlier prompt we were given for interiors and looked at applying the same technique to the possible actions they would be doing.

Task 4 - fighting gladiator.

Task 4i - fighting gladiator.

from there we then moved onto translating this line of action into animals. I was given the prompt of and elephant; I found this quite challenging to do as a lot of the movements captured below is quite static, but come the end I was able to start to grasp the idea of how the weight would be distributed throughout the limbs.

Task 5 - Animal line of action.

Task 5i - Animal line of action.
